Senior Software Engineer - UI

Our client, a gaming company, is looking to bring on a Senior Software Engineer to bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Software Engineer, you’ll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team goals. You’ll lead without authority and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering..

As a UI Engineer you’ll help establish a foundation for how we implement production-quality UI in our game engine. You will partner with designers, artists, and other engineers to understand and implement any tech needed to translate production ready designs into the build, and establish any needed framework or pipeline to accomplish this in a scalable manner.


  • Work with visual and UX designers to define a pipeline for implementing production quality UI for the game
  • Work with other UI tech leads across company to adopt and share best practices, tools, or other tech to accelerate UI development
  • Create any custom tooling or scripts to streamline UI implementation/iteration workflows
  • Collaborate with product and discipline leads to define an efficient pipeline and foundation for UI development that scales for production
  • Work closely with backend and production teams to develop a strategy for deploying space and bandwidth efficient UI packages

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional programming experience
  • 1 shipped game title
  • Expertise with UI software design patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP)
  • Expertise with C++
  • Experience with data driven design principles
  • BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of craft disciplines, especially UI and UX
  • Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making tech decisions
  • Have an agile mindset

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing shipping UI with Unreal Engine, especially UMG, and Slate
  • Consistently stays informed of latest Unreal Engine features such as Common UI
  • Experience shipping console-based game experiences
  • Familiarity with software as a service game development
